Keep Portland Weird…And Gluten-Free

by on April 15, 2015

For some unknown reason (is it something in the water?), Portland just seems to embody all things awesome. The best in eateries, culture, beer and music all magically appear in this city long before the trends reach the rest of the world.

Known to many as a hipper version of Vancouver (this is a compliment, not a put-down), the city is well-known for its liberal politics, amazing outdoor activities and an almost unhealthy obsession with craft beer and food carts (over 58 active breweries and 600+ food carts can be found within the city limits).

Portland is also quickly gaining a reputation as a mecca for gluten-free eaters. Named best gluten-free travel destination by The Daily Meal, Portland is home to a wide range of gluten-free eateries, grocery stores and a 100% gluten-free brewery (of course).

If this hasn’t convinced you to make a quick jaunt to Portland, perhaps some of these amazing local bloggers will…

Gluten-Free Foodies– One of our fave bloggers out there. She blogs about gluten-free living in Portland and Seattle, and tweets actively @glutenfreefoodi

Gluten-Free PDX– Awesome resource about all things gluten-free in Portland, run by naturopath Samantha Brody

Portlander Miamian– Splits his time between Miami and Portland and reports on gluten-free living across the U.S.

The Gluten Free Traveller– Another amazing blogger that makes us want to travel EVERYWHERE and eat EVERYTHING

Portland Monthly Mag– covers a lot of gluten-free eateries as well as other cool things to do in the city

So with that we’ll leave you to dream about your next gastro-vacation to this amazing city. We hope the Portlandians continue to keep Portland weird and wonderfully gluten-free.
